Launch in the Fitness Industry

The initial goal of Onesix has always been to improve the experience of visitors in the fitness and leisure industry, keeping them coming back for another workout session. In the summer of 2017, Gymeyes launched as a video system for gyms. “The idea was simple,” says co-owner Melvin Beemer (27), “Helping athletes film their workouts by installing action cameras in gyms. The user films an exercise from multiple angles using the tablet in the club, analyses the video and shares it with a trainer.”

Trampoline Parks

One year after launch, Mitchell Warmerdam, founder of Gymeyes, received a phone call from a trampoline park owner in Breda. He wanted to purchase the system immediately and use it for filming jumps at his youth park. Beemer: “A month after launching at the park, we looked at the data and couldn’t believe what we saw. The park was creating over 10 times more videos than our best-performing gym.” After a few months, the one millionth video was created, at which point the next goal was immediately set: 100 million videos in one year.

Investment by the Bossche Investerings Fonds

To accelerate growth, the company received an investment from BIF, the Bossche Investeringsfonds. The fund consists of six private investors in addition to the municipality. Gymeyes already had impressive traction with international clients at that point. “There are plenty of opportunities to further expand on this in the coming years,” says Heeres, one of the investors in Onesix. The capital is used to expand the software and connect more clubs abroad.

Ordering Kiosk for Hospitality

After the successful launch of the video system, it was time to add a new product to the Onesix offering. The potential for revenue growth within trampoline parks and children’s amusement parks like Monkey Town was examined. Gymeyes quickly concluded that there was enormous potential in the hospitality segment, and after several months of development, an ordering kiosk was launched: Onesix Kiosk. Affordable for every entrepreneur in the hospitality, leisure or retail market.

Onesix

After the launch of the ordering kiosk, the name no longer aligned with what Gymeyes had to offer. After several brainstorming sessions, Gymeyes chose a new name for the company. Onesix was born. The name originated from the founding date of Gymeyes and the launch date of the Onesix ordering kiosk, namely June 1st.

Launch of the Ordering Kiosk

The launch of Onesix Kiosk, combined with the COVID-19 measures, was picked up by several national media outlets, including de ondernemer and Emerce. The ordering kiosk helps businesses allow their guests to order at an appropriate distance.
